Ever wake up in the morning in remembrance of every mistake you have ever made and feeling like your ego has been shattered?? Truth is you cannot begin your day with a positive attitude because you are so overwhelmed by the negatives that it is hard for you to just get out of bed and start your day.
I’m sure that David must have felt this way when Nathan the prophet reminded him that not only had he taken Uriah’s wife but had sent him into battle to be killed after he refused to come out of the war to make love to her. David wanted to cover up the fact that she was pregnant by him after he took advantage of her as he lusted after her watching her secretly as she took a bath on the roof of the house next door. David got what he wanted but at what cost? Uriah’s death surely would make everything alright. After all nobody could blame David as he died in battle.
God sees and sends a prophet, Nathan, to reveal his sin through metaphor. David admits his sin and feels the whole world coming down on him. He knows that Bathsheba’s child is sick and will not live but he pleads, fast and begs feeling he has no way out. He is reminded Of Lam. 3:22-23, “God’s mercies are new every morning”. He asked God to create in him a clean heart and renew his spirit within him.” Psalm 51:10.
So, back to you waking up feeling defeated because of the problems caused by you and others in your life. Tired, weary and depressed. You can’t be happy or forgive because your heart and mind are filled with condemnation. How do you move forward? You, too, can ask God to create in you a clean heart and renew a right spirit within you. He will because his mercies really are new every morning and he (The Creator) is waiting for you to ask and receive. With this new heart you can jump out of bed and into the shower for a clean body and a beautiful day!!!!
